Brad Robins

About Brad
A 22 year old Centerville, Utah native, Brad Robins grew up with a love of sports, particularly baseball and football. Each Spring/Fall he would play while his Dad coached him. He never thought that he would one day end up on the stage. However, while a 9th grader at Centerville Jr. High, he was asked by some of his friends to try out for the school Madrigal Choir. Not wanting to be left out, he auditioned and made it, only later to find that his friends had chosen not to. Later that same year, Brad was asked to star in the school musical “The Music Man”, playing the role of Harold Hill. After some reservation and some convincing from this Mother, he decided to try it. It was then that he discovered his love for vocal and theater performance. Brad continued his athletic career through his senior year of high school, foregoing his senior baseball season to make his debut on the semi-professional stage, participating in Hale Centre Theatre’s production of “Ragtime”, playing the role of Younger Brother. Some of Brad’s theatre credits include: Music Man (Harold Hill), Les Miserables (Enjolras), Secret Garden (Dr. Craven), Ragtime (Younger Brother), Beauty and the Beast (Beast), and Civil War (Nathaniel Taylor). Brad has performed at a variety of venues all over Utah including: Hale Centre Theatre (West Valley City), Rogers Memorial Theatre (Bountiful), Tabernacle on Temple Square (Salt Lake City), Tuachan Amphitheatre (St. George), and Abravanel Hall (Salt Lake City). He has studied voice for only four years having been trained in both the classical and contemporary genres. His debut album, “Center Stage”, released spring 2009, was his first solo project, consisting of some of his favorite Broadway show tunes. Currently a full-time student at BYU, Brad performs with the Young Ambassadors, a world famous song and dance group with which he will tour this spring to the Nordic Countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. When asked about his unexpected “breakthrough” into the music industry he had to say:
“It’s true, had you asked me only 7 years ago where I thought I would be today, I never, in a million years, would have guessed that I would be releasing my first solo album with years of theatre experience under my belt. My deep love of vocal performance and the stage came as a shock not only to me, but my entire family. Since the first time I stepped foot on a stage I have never once looked back. It felt like that was right where I needed to be. Every time I enter the studio or find myself on a stage of any kind I am reminded of that. I am so grateful to all those who have encouraged, influenced, or helped me in any way to get where I am today. I certainly have been blessed to meet and walk with many great individuals along the way. While my vocal efforts contribute a great deal to my success, I would be ungrateful if I did not fully recognize the sacrifices of parents, teachers, mentors, and friends in helping me to reach the level of achievement that I have obtained.”
